"Random Weapon Checks Are Allowed" Laws

Lately on the server, I have found it to be practically unplayable whenever a mayor makes random weapon checks allowed. All people do is be SWAT and spam weapon check on every single person walking around in the street and its extremely unbalanced and makes playing as a criminal zero fun. You are forced choosing to either have no weapon on you (which is half the fun of DarkRP), or spend 3 minutes AFK when you inevitably get arrested for having a weapon on you because there are 10 police officers running around doing nothing but looking for people with weapons to arrest, which is not how police act in RP scenarios. There are also currently no rules concerning police's use of the weapon check SWEP.

 

A change needs to be made to one of two things:

1. The weapon checking SWEP needs to have a cooldown of at least a minute, perhaps longer, so police cant just spam left-click on every single player walking around in public.

2. Random weapon checks being allowed by law needs to be unallowed

 

I feel this is a very big problem and ruins the fabric of RP for anyone who likes to play as a criminal, and I would love to see some change made in regards to the issue. Thank you.

I dont understand what the big deal with it is, all you need to do is get a permit and then you dont have to worry about if they weapon check your or not. They are really cheap. I mean its not that big of a deal dude. Also the idea of having a cooldown on the weapon SWEP is kinda dumb but also kinda smart honestly. It kinda takes a way from the realism but yes i agree that there should be either a rule or a cooldown or something that way they cant just go around doing it to everyone to be arresting people with a cause. Maybe a rule to where in order to weapon check, you have to have probable cause just like in real life. Real police officers cant do a cavity search without probable cause. So i agree and disagree to this. 

 

Main focuses are its a dumb idea just cause you can get a weapon permit and not have to worry about it. BUT, it does seem pretty lenient to the fact that they can search you at any point. 

CONCLUSION  

I say we set a rule that PD can only weapon check you if they have probable cause like if they see a gun, or see a player come out of a gun store, etc.

You say that having a gun on you is half the fun of darkrp but maybe just keep a gun in the inventory system and then when you need one you can take it out and shoot, also you can kill cops for weapon checking you if you dont consent

By the time you can realize that you've been weapon checked, pull a gun out, and the animation for pulling it out is completed, you're already tazed. Plus, half the time you shoot them and there's 10 other cops around that will arrest you instead.

DarkRP is already extremely unrealistic so I don't think the "taking away from realism" matters much. Also having to buy a $50,000 gun license every single time you respawn just so that the game is playable isn't a very good solution. The issue here is that people are becoming police because the only thing they want to do is spam weapon check and arrest people. It's not how RP is meant to work and its just straight up unbalanced.

This is true, thats why im still gonna stand behind that we make a new rule that PD can no longer just search people randomly no matter the laws made my the mayor. There has to be a probable cause behind searching them like seeing them with the gun, them walking out of a gun store, etc.

Weapon checking without consent is a form of attack and therefore you can shoot the cop that weapon checked you. Easy fix.

Taking it away will most likely cause more issues whether it be Failrp tickets or just general complaints as to why it’s not allowed and as Cody said blowing them away is always an option.

No matter the solution y’all come to I do agree there is a problem. The hoard of cops and swat that do nothing but weapon check everybody out of spawn and then arrest in groups is very annoying

Pay a hitman to kill the mayor. (Which demotes him and removes the laws)

Don't carry a weapon or Pay for a license.

The weapon checkers do nothing if you're following the law.

No, I'm pretty sure it's only lost when you get arrested, not when you respawn.

Equipping a weapon in spawn knowing that there's cops right out of there is a clown move. Weaponchecks do not show weapons that you spawn with.

Also the biggest issue here are the weaponcheckers that immediately weap check and taze everyone before even checking if they have a license, making the license pretty useless. You also can't communicate with them until after you are done being tazed, where you usually also have no time to talk and tell them, and are arrested. It's against the rules, but they still do it and it's still annoying even if you do manage to get a sit because you lose weapons + your license, and by the time you get a sit your jailtime is up.
